Artworks: Targeted Mental Health in Schools

Artworks: targeted mental health in schools supported students in four UK schools to action research ways they could use the arts to improve the emotional climate of their whole school. Each of the groups interviewed fellow students, identified the places and things that caused most stress in their school and puts some strategies in place. The outcomes included lunchtime friendship groups, a chill out space, a sculpture trail around the school brightening up grey concrete spaces, friendly signage helping lost souls to navigate school spaces, and some cool playtime games. The project was a successful pilot for a national initiative that was sadly scrapped with a change of national government. The Artworks report shares our learning.

Partnership between Nottinghamshire County Council, the Targeted Mental Health in Schools Team, and City Arts, UK.
